HOMETOWN STORE SPACE REQUIREMENTS

Sears Hometown Stores range from 8,000-10,000 square feet, with approximately 70% of the space devoted to the selling square footage. The actual square footage of your store will vary by the size of the market and availability of real estate. Minimum building front must be at least 55 feet wide with windows, and a minimum ceiling height of 10 feet.


LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

Our basic requirements for store locations include:

  • Located in a primary retail corridor
  • Located in a high traffic area
  • In close proximity to major retailers
  • Visible to consumers

Our team will assist you in either reviewing your current business location or locating real estate that meets with our approval. Your responsibility is to secure property either by lease or ownership. We work with you through the retrofit or construction stages and as you prepare your store to open for business.

INITIAL INVESTMENT

New Markets

Market and facility condition will impact the startup cost a great deal.  Interested candidates should estimate $60,000-$80,000 for fixtures and furniture plus facility build out costs and operating capital.


Existing Markets

Sears Hometown Stores offers one of the lowest startup costs in the industry for an existing business.  All you need at start up is your operating capital, we recommend 6 months available at start.  Our program includes a no cost Dealer Agreement and we supply all merchandise on consignment.
